Ipod shuffle battery life?

i just bought a brand new ipod shuffle 4th generation, and everywhere ive checked, it says that the battery life lasts 15 hours. i fully charged mine and the first day it only lasted 3 hours, then the next day i fully charged it, it lasted 4 hours. does anyone know why the battery is dying so quicky, and a way to fix this problem?
